Teaching

Outlook on Teaching:
Click here for a pdf of my Teaching Statement.

Beyond what is discussed in my Teaching Statement, I believe that philosophical work benefits from engagement with different kinds of evidence, and different methodological frameworks avail themselves to different kinds of philosophical problems. Likewise, philosophy students are best equipped to do good work in philosophy when they are familiar with and conversant in this data and the variety of ways in which different disciplines can inform theorizing. In addition to works of analytic philosophy, I try to incorporate readings from continental philosophy, American pragmatism, eastern philosophy, psychology, psychoanalysis, neuroscience, anthropology, media studies, gender studies, political science, and economics where they are applicable.

Current Syllabuses:
This list contains syllabuses which represent my most current thinking on each course (given recent reading that I have done, my understanding of the current state of best teaching practices, and/or what seemed to have worked or not worked the last time that I taught the course). A complete list of courses that I have taught is available on my CV. For a copy of the syllabus for a particular section of a particular course that I have taught in the past, please feel free to contact me.
